



Insight & Proposition
Marty enters a futuristic café and encounters Biff Jr., who pressures him into a risky task. Marty refuses until Biff Jr. calls him a "chicken," triggering his temper and leading to a fight. This distraction prevents him from completing the important tasks assigned by The Doc. Marty’s main struggle is his inability to stay calm when provoked, causing him to lose control. He needs a product that helps him manage his emotions and remain composed. With this solution, Marty can stay focused, avoid unnecessary trouble, and successfully carry out The Doc’s mission without being derailed by his temper.

The solution is a smartwatch that detects spikes in heart rate, indicating stress or anger. When triggered, it emits gentle vibrations to the wrist, activating a calming nervous system response. This helps the user regain control, reducing the “fight or flight” reaction. For Marty, this means staying composed when provoked and preventing impulsive decisions and conflicts. The watch ensures he remains focused on his tasks without being derailed by emotions. By keeping him calm in high-pressure situations, the product allows him to avoid unnecessary trouble and successfully complete The Doc’s mission without losing control when confronted or insulted.

Idea Development
I drew inspiration from Nike’s branding, as it aligns with Marty’s interests. My goal was to incorporate a clean, minimalist style that conveys a sense of calm while maintaining Nike’s signature simplicity. The colour scheme was carefully chosen to reflect smoothness and tranquillity while still capturing the sleek, modern feel of Nike’s design. This approach ensures the product remains visually appealing and familiar to Marty, increasing his interest. By blending these elements, the branding not only promotes a sense of control and relaxation but also resonates with Marty’s personal style and preferences, making it more effective and engaging.




Here, you can see the smartwatch in action, along with my chosen brand name, logo, and packaging variations. I selected the name "Nerv," inspired by the word "nerves," which connects to emotions and feelings—the very things this watch helps regulate. The name reinforces the product’s purpose: keeping the user calm and in control. The branding, logo, and packaging are designed to reflect simplicity, modernity, and a sense of tranquility. By combining these elements, Nerv effectively communicates its function while maintaining a sleek, appealing aesthetic that resonates with Marty and his need for emotional balance.

Here, I designed the box that will hold the smartwatch, maintaining the clean and minimalist aesthetic. The packaging follows the same simplistic format, ensuring a sleek and modern look that aligns with the brand identity. The design keeps the focus on the product while reinforcing the theme of calmness and control. By keeping it simple yet effective, the packaging enhances the overall appeal, making it both visually attractive and functional. This approach ensures a seamless unboxing experience while staying true to the brand’s core message of balance and emotional regulation.

Finally, here are the completed outcomes of the brief, showcasing the Nerv calming smartwatch along with its branding. The design ensures the product stands out to Marty, combining a sleek, minimalist aesthetic with a sense of tranquility and control. The branding reinforces the watch’s purpose—helping users manage emotions and stay composed in high-pressure situations. Every element, from the logo to the packaging, is crafted to create a cohesive and appealing identity that resonates with Marty’s interests while effectively communicating the watch’s function.
